Lesson 33 – The categories of shirk – Part 1

Shirk can be divided into major shirk, minor shirk and hidden shirk.

Another categorisation is by its opposite category of tawheed. That isshirk in Ruboobiyah, shirk in Uloohiyya and shirk in Asmaa’ was-Sifaat.

Majorshirk is to make other than Allah equal to Allah in one or more of Allah’s specific rights (e.g. worship). It removes a person from Islam, and their abode in the Hellfire will be eternal.

The fear of falling intoshirk should be greater than any other fear we may have. It should drive us to take the means (asbaab) by which to avoid and be saved from it.
